Travel will almost assuredly get disrupted at some point if your travel a lot. Travel insurance can give you the peace of mind to just roll with the punches. You’ve worked hard for your money and your travels. We make sure ours is protected.
Llama buys an annual policy as we travel about 50% of the year and, to be honest, we don’t always remember what portion of a trip we paid on a credit card that has travel protections as we usually working on some sign up bonus and we’re lazy and in the heat of a travel disruption we don’t want our brains stressing over “what card”, we just want to know we have a policy.
In our recent Portugal/Spain trip, TAP cancelled our flight until the next day. Though TAP put us up over night and gave us a meal voucher, this lost us a prepaid hotel night at our destination and necessitated a train trip to catch up to our tour.

We kept screen shots of everything, took pictures of all receipts as we went along.
Filed a claim when we returned with Allianz.
Very easy process.
The claim was paid out in 2 weeks.

It’s always good to have travel insurance.
Many credit cards have travel and rental car protections and Llama HIGHLY recommends using those but sometimes a broad policy is just better.
This is the second year in a row we’ve had to file a thankfully small claim and both have been paid in a timely manner.
We have the AllTrips Premier plan through Allianz. With credit card protections, our own insurances, it just works for us. There are other companies and policies out there.
If you travel a lot, an annual policy over a trip specific policy may be the way to go.

We made it to meet our group in Seville! All with a smile and no worries about our travel insurance.
